Saturday Blog Hop: Casing Lori 2025

Hello! Thanks for joining us on our Create with Stamping Friends Saturday Blog Hop! For the next few weeks we are spending time casing each other's cards. Casing means to copy or create using a similar look to the original card. This week we are casing myself! It was kind of like a regular week as I often look back at my cards to use a similar layout etc to what I've tried before. It's good to remember we don't have to start from scratch every time.

This was a card I loved for its simplicity and the colours look really great together. Instead of the sentiment being the centrepiece it was fun to use the large butterfly and let it stand alone. I kept everything pretty similar, but felt the card base needed to be Summer Splash to make everything pop a bit better.

Materials Used

These were the main inspiration for my card:

• Colour Combo: Summer Splash & Azure Afternoon

• Bundle: Beautiful Butterflies.

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Card Base:

   1. Cut Summer Splash cardstock to 8 1/2" x 5 1/2". Score in half at 4 1/4".

   2. Cut Azure Afternoon cardstock to 3 3/4" x 5".

   3. Cut Basic White cardstock to 3 5/8" x 4 7/8". Before adhering to card, stamp a random pattern with the dots image from the stamp set in both ink colours.

   4. Add paper to card with Stampin' SEAL.

2. Decorative Elements: 

   1. Use a Blending Brush, add some Summer Splash ink onto a piece of Basic White cardstock. Stamp the butterfly on top in Azure Afternoon.

   2. Cut out with coordinating die.

   3. Add to card with Stampin' Dimensionals.

3. Sentiment:

   1. Heat emboss in white on a piece of Summer Splash cardstock. Cut to size and add to card with Mini Stampin' Dimensionals.
