Saturday Blog Hop: Casing Lori de Groot

Hello! Thanks for joining us on the Create with Connie & Mary Saturday Blog Hop! We are in the midst of a fun series, where each week we will case a card from one of the designers. Casing is a term that just means, 'copy and share everything'. It's one of the joys of card making, to be inspired by others' creativity!

This week, we are casing...me! I really liked the layout on this one I did just a little while ago and wanted to make it again, but with a few twists.

I decided to pull out the 3 main colours of this card; Crumb Cake, Poppy Parade and Mint Macaron. I thought they would also be fun on a Christmas card! When I'm working with specific colours, I just take a quick look through my crafting supplies and see what I have in those colours. It's one of my favourite things about Stampin' Up! . . . you will always have something that matches perfectly because of the amazing colour coordination in all their products.

Here are the basic dimensions:

  • Crumb Cake Card Base: 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", scored in half at 4 1/4"

  • Design a Daydream DSP: 4" x 5 1/4"

I cut out the circle from the Celebrate Everything Designer Series Paper, using the largest circle from the Stylish Shapes Dies. To create a frame for it, like I did in my original card, I used the 2 largest circles together and cut it out from Poppy Parade cardstock. I glued these together and added them to the card using Stampin' Dimensionals.

The Crumb Cake background for the candy cane was stamped and punched out using the Handmade Wishes Bundle. I then added the candy cane (stamped in Poppy Parade) and the sentiment, which are both from the Sweet Candy Canes Stamp Set. For the embellishments, Sweet Sorbet is a colour that is a close match to Poppy Parade, so I added a little twine and sequins for some sparkle!
