Saturday Blog Hop: Punched Backgrounds

Hello! Thanks for joining us on our Create with Stamping Friends Saturday Blog Hop! Are you having fun with all our technique challenges this month? If you've missed any, be sure to go back and check them out! This week we were to create a background using punches. I used the Modern Oval Punch in our new Two Tone Cardstock and embossed it to give it some detail. So fun!

Stampin' Up! Two Tone Cardstock Christmas Card Idea
Materials Used

I absolutely love using these colours for Christmas cards and the tree is an old favourite and so perfect:

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Card Base:

    1. Cut Crumb Cake Cardstock to 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" and score in half at 4 1/4" to make the base of the card.

    2. Cut a 4 1/8" x 5 3/8" piece of the Garden Green Two-Tone Cardstock. Adhere it to card front with the light side up.

  2. Punched Background:

    1. Cut a 4"x 5 1/4" piece of Basic White.

    2. Using the Modern Oval Punch, punch out 2 ovals in each colour. (Pool Party, Poppy Parade, Petal Pink and Garden Green).

    3. Place the punched pieces in the Forever Plaid Embossing Folder, with one dark side up and one light side up in each colour. Emboss!

    4. Apply to Basic White and then trim to the size of the cardstock.

  3. Detail:

    1. Stamp tree in Garden Green and cut out with coordinating die. Add to card with dimensionals.

    2. Cut some Real Red & White Baker's Twine, loop in thirds and add to tree.

    3. Heat emboss sentiment in white on Basic Black, cut to size and add onto card. (I used the Reindeer Fun Stamp Set).

    4. Add embellishments! (These are the Real Red & White Peppermints)
