Have you ever bought a product that you loved, but once you sat down to create with it, you weren't quite sure what to do? That's kind of how I felt with the super cute 'Storybook Moments' Specialty DSP from Stampin' Up!. I'm a bit of an Anglophile, so I just loved the sweet look of this paper and how it is reminiscent of Peter Rabbit (which I've loved since I was little!). So, I decided to keep it simple and start with a layout idea that I loved and go from there.
Card 1
When you find yourself a bit stuck creatively, a good place to start is with your most favourite element. For me, that was this paper with the strawberry pattern on it.
I started with a circle of the DSP and then created the card out from there.
To get just a hint of the Wild Wheat pattern, I tucked it behind some Two-Tone Boho Blue Cardstock, which I embossed for some added interest.
Gingham is an amazing combo to this style of paper! This is the Black & Very Vanilla Large Check Ribbon.
For some extra fun with the sentiments, I used the 'Thoughtful Moments' Hybrid Embossing Folder & Dies.
Card 2
For this card I liked the pattern, but wanted it to fade into the background a bit.
It looks great combining it with Calypso Coral & Lost Lagoon.
I am loving using the Two-Tone Cardstock for layers on my cards. When you use the lighter side you can tone down the brightness of a certain colour, like I did here with the Calypso Coral.
Card 3
Now, I couldn't make a card without the animals!
This card front actually comes from the page of the DSP that has all the different card front pieces all pre-designed that you can simply cut out. The animals are a bit smaller and I liked that for this card.
I also fussy cut out a cute little squirrel just for a bit of fun! I don't like squirrels in my own garden, but I'll take them here😄.
